Things you won't learn in science class!

"Earth was not only the first planet in existence, it was the first object in the universe that had mass. The earth came first, then the universe was created around it."
Oh, and it gets better:
"God created planets in order to fool the astrolaters into idolatry."
Your guess is as good as mine as to what an "astrolater" is.

Just to clarify what should be obvious, this is in no way intended to imply that the above views represent the "mainstream" of any denomination whatsoever. That said, subscription to certain metaphysical belief systems is an almost certain pre-requisite, and particular ideological leanings tend to correlate with it fairly exclusively.

I think it's very clear, except to heathens whose ears have been plugged up by Satan. An astrolater is an astronomer who is also an idolater -- a worshipper of false gods.

Unfortunately, today most astronomers are really astrolaters. They have rejected the God of the Bible, and his explanation of how he really made the Earth, and have placed their faith in idols, crude gods of glass and iron made by men. Like fools, they point these idols to the heavens and claim to see the messages of their false gods through them. But they are liars.

They call their god "telescope," but really they are just satanists.

Sixth Estate: Excellent sarcastic channeling of rabid creationist rhetoric; it sounds like you've had some experience with them!
